Grand Seiko’s dials often evoke the typically Japanese beauty of the places where its watches are made. Lake Suwa, located southeast of the Shinshu Watch Studio where the Spring Drive is made, is a perfect example.
The dial of the SLGA019 evokes the surface of this lake and its gentle waves in the early morning, when the breeze stirs the long, shallow lake. The deep blue shows different colours depending on the angle at which it catches the light, reinforcing the link with the wind as it moves and changes the surface of the water.
The case and bracelet are made of high-intensity titanium, a metal 30% lighter than steel and highly resistant to rust, corrosion and scratches.
The SLGA019 is powered by the Calibre 9RA2 Spring Drive movement, assembled by the expert craftsmen of the Shinshu Watch Studio and capable of running for about 120 hours (5 days) at full winding. Just as the dial reflects the changing character of a windswept lake, the smooth seconds hand moves with the flow of time effortlessly thanks to this state-of-the-art movement.
